Letters from the garden
Dear Readers, I am writing this on a very ‘wooly’ day and I don’t think I’ll be gardening in this as I could get blown away!! But I did mange to potter yesterday, potting up some Yew and cutting back some plants that had as yet not been done. Although I went to prune my Erysimum ‘Bowles Mauve and it’s already got rosettes of flowers about to open up, then I spotted an open Flower on the Mallow and loads of buds so it just shows what the weather is doing to us, confusing all the gardeners out there, we even went to prune an Apple tree for a customer and already showing signs of early flowering. But it has been a bit warmer we haven’t had the cold snaps for the longer periods and we are slipping and sliding about which isn’t always great. The pheasants have obviously found a shortcut through our Neighbours garden as they keep appearing on the fence daily, wondering around, the dog is not sure about them, I thought I might get a free meal but she has shown no interest, so the game keeper has no need to worry. Well we are on our second pond of the year so far, this is going to be special the large rocks on site are going to make an outstanding backdrop to the pond and also a marsh garden which I am looking forward to planting. We are also doing the gardening weather permitting there are lots of gardens in need of pruning and mulching and lots of clients asking for plants to be added and planting to do. Myself and Christian are on the annual schedule, hair pulling, Sudoku ritual of trying to fit everyone in efficiently, it’s always interesting to see how we get there in the end, so don’t forget to call if you are needing a Mow, Blow or Horty visit or visits.
