Big news recently in the gardening world has been The Chelsea Flower show, a massive event seeing its 100th year this year, and hosted by our own local hero.
Chelsea and other garden shows such as Tatton Park or Hampton Court, are fantastic ways to get to see a lot of plants, gardens, ideas and innovations and even pick up a plant or two. However you don’t always have to go to the big shows to get to see some great gardens and get ideas. Locally at this time of year there are many open garden weekends and flower fairs. For instance Chawton has an open garden weekend on the 8th and 9th of June, and Gilbert Whites House has an Unusual Plants Fair on the following weekend, the 15th and 16th of June. There are also NGS open garden days throughout the year locally. Local Events often support charities and can often be more relevant as the plants others grow locally you probably can too! Maybe see you there.
