Well with the longest day now been and gone, the garden is now in full swing, and as I write this it’s getting a much-needed water, courtesy of our glorious weather.
The hard work starts to pay off by now. The grass has slowed down, the first or even second crops are being consumed, we have gone through at least two batches of radish and a fair amount of lettuce already! The daffodils and bluebells are long gone and have given way to poppies, margerites, clematis and all manner of summer flowers. Most especially my carnations are now really pushing out. I love the Pinks, maybe not such a fashionable choice these days, but I get a lot of enjoyment from them, from the single stems to sprays, Carnations, Pinks, or Dianthus. I think maybe they hold a fascination for me because of their hidden meanings. You may know, perhaps that pinks have meanings such as dark red representing a woman’s love. But did you know that Dianthus translates as Flowers of the Gods? So if you want hand keeping the florist bills down give me a call!
