Letters from the garden
Dear Readers, Leaves leaves leaves........ Yes I know I alot of you might be surprised by this but I love this time of year, leaves everywhere that need clearing and blowing, but try not to think of them as a negative part of a season, it’s midway through Autumn the colours are amazing and let’s not forget all us big kids love to kick them up as high as we can. Leaves are good and here is why - mulch! You can collect and store the same way as compost or in bags and next year they will make a lovely rich sweet food yes that’s right mom lovely. So it doesn’t matter if you keep leaves in your beds and borders they will naturally break down and do the soil good, it’s what happens you can now feel guilt free about it. However don’t let them sit on lawns or on gutters this will cause problems they need to be cleared from these areas, so make your mulch, and enjoy it. Guy Fawkes night is here, so light your bonfires but do be artful of little animals that might try and find a home, enjoy the pumpkin soup and sparklers and be safe. If you need any help with the garden clear up let us know including clearing your gutters, we can help. Keep warm and enjoy the garden. Lynn Dupont
