.......As a gardener I can always find something to do outside, even if it’s a general tidy up, get the broom out or the blower whichever you prefer.
The jobs you never quite got to like:
Turning compost and mulching your beds, dividing plants and as long as the ground isn’t frozen you can still do this. If you have plant frames check they are in good condition and don’t forget there are natural plant supports like hazel branches they are great for this.
Cleaning the greenhouse and shed, sharpening tools and servicing if you need to, or organise your gardener for when they are needed, planting out sowing seeds. Check plant protection with all the winds we have had they may need extra help.
Don’t forget to burn your pruning have a good bonfire, and if it’s been built for a while don’t forget to check for critters in case they have moved in.
Check the wildlife generally, make sure there is food for birds if you don’t have a lot of natural foods and don’t forget to make sure any water is not frozen, Bird baths and small ponds it always pays to free these up.
Also something that is ideal and will help you use you garden make sure paths and patio areas are pressure washed to keep stains and slippery patches at bay.
