Letters from the garden
I don’t know about you but the plant of the season so far must be the Hawthorn, the flowers are simply fabulous, last year the iris did well but this year it goes to the Hawthorn, they are just beautiful. Maybe they knew that for the Royal Wedding they needed to perform or perhaps because it was Chelsea Flower who knows.
My tulips did well this year also, I have put some Honey Bells in a pot which are just starting to show themselves, they would look great in the middle of a border as they have a little height to them, I am also desperately trying to put more time in my own garden, lots of cut flowers seeds, we will see if they get eaten or not, some rodent has certainly enjoyed my Cosmos and my Cornflower seedlings, which I bought especially from Sarah Raven’s catalogue, I’ll just have to by some more!! Pests, nevermind all part of managing one’s garden.
I hope you enjoy Chelsea Flower show, I will be watching from the sofa, far too busy for me unless you are one of the Exhibits, I’ve seen some pics of the Hillier Garden and it’s good to know we are on trend and we have been using lots of rusty steel for planters, and had lots of requests for them to be planted up.
Well I’ll get back to the office and keep an eye on Tinca out the window as she is sunbathing.
Enjoy the bank holiday weekend and whatever you are up to, enjoy your space and if you need help with basic maintenance, Amenity Horticulture or more specialised Horticulture please let us know.
Have a lovely May.
