As I work in my garden at the moment my biggest passion is starting to come alive. I love water gardening, from streams, and lakes to tiny water features. As they wake up from the dormancy of winter and the Lilies start to poke their leaves above water level and the filters and pumps are turned on it’s a great joy.
Ponds and lakes are our opportunity to build an entire ecosystem in the back garden, not just a hole in the ground. Ponds can contain hours of fun for the family from catching tadpoles to watching newts and if you have fish the simple pleasure of just watching them is incredibly calming. Of course the sound of running water in your garden always adds another dimension. Water gardening has its complexities, knowing your nitrates from your nitrites and your nymphae from your nuphars, however the sight of in bloom lilies floating on clear water is absolutely worth the effort. However if your not up for getting wet and clearing out all that sludge, or digging out the new pond, please get in touch with someone who strangely finds it the best part of gardening!
